Pereskia aculeata Miller, commonly known as Ora pro Nobis, is an unconventional food plant (PANC) recognized in traditional medicine for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties. The challenge of managing flaking and itching associated with psoriasis, coupled with the scarcity of studies on natural products that provide soothing effects on the scalp, has driven the search for alternative treatments. These alternatives aim to offer less health risk and practicality for daily and continuous use, addressing not only the physical symptoms but also serious emotional complications such as depression and anxiety. In pursuit of alleviating psoriasis symptoms, particularly for those suffering from scalp-related issues, a natural remedy was explored. This involved the development of a hair tonic incorporating the extract of Pereskia aculeata Miller as the active ingredient. The study included a 25-year-old female participant with a dermatologist-confirmed diagnosis of psoriasis, who was experiencing acute scalp dysfunction. After two months of treatment using the hair tonic, significant improvements were noted, including a reduction in erythema and scaly plaques, demonstrating the potential of this plant-based approach in psoriasis management.
